Marital conversations (83 and 84)

(We had our Covid booster jabs 4 days ago and C thought her achy symptoms over the last couple of days were just a reaction to that ...until Wednesday.)

C (branishing a positive test strip): I think you'd better do a test!

C:    Before that perhaps you'd better go and do some more shopping (clean the house/mow the lawn/sort out the laundry etc etc etc... The fact that I've just been to the shops and am feeling distinctly unwell, if not as ill as her, doesn't seem to count for anything!).

15 minutes later my test is still negative and, I confess, I'm getting worried.

Finally, after waiting the full 30 minutes for the test strip to work there's a faint line - which according to the instruction leaflet - is just as positive as a thick red line.

I proclaim my result to C, who insists on checking. (Why?)

C:     Come on - I can hardly see anything on the Test line! You're imagining it!

(And then, eventually conceding that there is something there):

C:     I'm going to find the pink pen you used to fake that!

Over the next 5 days first C, and then I, spend whole days in bed totally drained of energy. Needless to say we've cancelled everything - sessions with friends, tennis, a Doors Alive gig, grandchildren visits - but then we both test negative and are on the way to recovery. Our third dose of Covid-19.
