I was first introduced to Ben & Jerry's ice cream in the 1980s on a business trip to Boston, Mass. I don't know whether there was anything equivalent in UK shops then. (Our budget didn't stretch to anything more than the cheapest vanilla in Asda in those days.) But I was instantly sold on it and Cherry Garcia (obviously), Chocolate Chip, and Phish Food were go-to treats once it arrived in our shops and the kids had left home.
But then, sadly, Cherry Garcia disappeared. And "Cookie Dough" appeared.
I've made cookies. Basically you mix up a load of butter, flour, egg, and chocolate chips to make a ball of dough which you can divide to make whatever size of cookie you like.
Does this ball look like anything you want to eat? Does your mouth water at the sight of it? Are you desperate to pack bits of it it into an otherwise delicious creamy ice cream?
NO! NO! NO!
It looks like something you want to put in the oven and cook!!!
I suspect that those who choose to buy this flavour have never baked anything, and don't have a clue what cookie dough actually is!
Or am I missing something?
