After 100 days, our first day out since lockdown began. An overcast day, but it was great to stroll around the lake in Clumber Park, have an ice cream, and just sit and let the world pass by for a bit. What else have we missed?
A comparison of our calendar pages for just one month of the three tells the whole story really.
2019 has visits to the theatre, cinema, pubs, friends. There's golf, tennis, Pilates, Forest matches, band practice, work parties in Sharphill Wood. Visits by relatives, trips away. What a privileged life!
2020 we had to scrub out most things, including the Carlos Acosta Dance Company. The only added entries were Skype and Zoom sessions.
Over this period we've also missed: the twins's birthday, Mum's birthday, Ed Gamble, a Grateful Dudes gig, the Titian exhibition at the National Gallery, a walking trip to Wales with friends, Matt Forde. C has missed a few days in Jersey with her friends.
But the big one was our 2-week family trip to Orlando; Disney and Universal tickets included. This was booked in 2018 as C's retirement treat, but was postponed from 2019 to 2020 because Dexter would have only been 8 weeks old. Third time lucky?
No matter - we're having a big barn conversion in Dorset for a week's stay instead. (Assuming no further lockdowns...)
I've mentioned about missing family already. But apart from that the lockdown hasn't really been a problem; we're very fortunate.
