How to save the rhino...

I guess everyone knows that the various rhino species are not doing well. Poaching is constantly depleting the various populations, many acutely endangered, largely because of the hugely profitable illegal supply of powdered horn for Traditional Chinese Medicine purposes. (It is supposed to be just the job for fever and convulsions.)

I know that the best and most just way of stopping this trade is to take out the poachers and middle men. But here's an alternative:

  1. Prepare all the stockpiled rhino horn for release onto the black market. (If necessary stockpile more from deceased rhinos and seizures for a while.)
  2. Lace with a generous dose of polonium (Yes, I know it's expensive, but costs will be recouped when the powdered horn is sold on.) Ideally the dose would be completely fatal to anyone handling or ingesting the horn
  3. Release, perhaps in batches at random intervals
That should knock the bottom out of the market.
