Review of 2012

2012 – The year of the London Olympics ...but a momentous year for the Rivett family in other ways

·         May: Cassie and Adam become wonderful parents to equally wonderful boys Franklin and Oscar

·         July/August: The 2012 Olympics! A big highlight for C, who had been anticipating them since the summer of 2007. She made it into a real family event

·         August: Ben & Vicky got married. It couldn’t have been a better day. Very grateful to the happy couple, Vick’s parents, and everyone else who helped to make it brilliant.

·         October: C and I marked our 40 years of marriage by taking a safari trip to Kenya and Tanzania, and enjoy celebrating the anniversary with newlyweds Matt and Fiona and Darach and Renine in the Serengeti Serena Lodge in Tanzania. Hope you guys have at least as many happy years as us!

Time and again this year I've thought what a fantastic family I have and how lucky I am.

·         A  great year for cinema: Hunger Games! (Jennifer Lawrence!), Avengers!  ...and for music: Dark Star Orchestra! Patti Smith! But sad for TV ...Karen Gillan leaving Dr Who!

·         Last but not least ...C and I gave up eating low-fat spreads. Well if you can’t enjoy butter for your final decade or two, what’s the point?
